São Paulo (SP) – The most powerful and effective way to teach is by example. At home, it’s the parents. At school, the teachers. In sports, idols. In the LIGA NESCAU Jovem Pan, which starts this Saturday (15), six ambassadors will assume the role of reference for the more than 7 thousand boys and girls, students of 300 institutions participating in the event. Tandara volleyball striker Falcao, Judge Mayra Aguiar, former swimmer Thiago Pereira, gymnast Flavia Saraiva and basketball player Yago Mateus will be present at the different stages of the tournament, willing to share experiences and point the way to form not only great athletes, but citizens.
The invitation to the ambassadors is one of the novelties of LIGA NESCAU, one of the biggest student competitions in Brazil, which arrives at the fourth edition in 2018. The opening will be this Saturday (15), in the club Sírio, in São Paulo, with attractions like game of basketball on wheels, show of NESCAU band and singer Ráae, that will interpret the song “I will not stop”, theme of the competition, besides the presence of Falcão and Thiago Pereira. Disputes will continue until November. There are 15 modalities, including six adapted for children with disabilities. The seven thousand São Paulo students will compete in futsal, volleyball, basketball, handball, athletics, artistic gymnastics, swimming, table tennis and judo. The paradesport will be present with athletics, basketball on wheels, table tennis, seated volleyball, swimming and judo.
The choice of ambassadors took more into account than performance. It included questions such as life history, charisma and the image of children and youth. Falcão is the captain of the TIME NESCAU of ambassadors, having been godfather of the competition since its first edition. “The initiative to encourage school sports is of great importance for the development of children. In the competition one learns to gain, to lose, and, mainly, to respect rules and the opponents. The sport teaches for life and Nestlé offers a great opportunity to these boys and girls, “says the idol of the national futsal, elected four times by FIFA as the best player in the world, who recently won the 100th career title in the victory of the Sorocaba in the Super Cup, and the two-time club championship in Bangkok, Thailand.
